Problem gambling is gambling behavior which causes disruptions in any major area of life: psychological, physical, social or vocational.

The term "Problem Gambling" includes, but is not limited to, the condition known as "Pathological", or "Compulsive" Gambling, a progressive addiction characterized by increasing preoccupation with gambling, a need to bet more money more frequently, restlessness or irritability when attempting to stop, "chasing" losses, and loss of control manifested by continuation of the gambling behavior in spite of mounting, serious, negative consequences. ACOPG is a statewide advocate for programs and services to assist problem gamblers and their families.


Our Mission Statement is to increase the public awareness of compulsive gambling and ensure the widespread availability of treatment at no cost to the individual. We are a 501(c) 3 federally recognized non-profit organization, which services currently and expanding the operations of this organization throughout multiple offices in the State of Alabama. We have been blessed with many individuals currently who are dedicated above reproach to the completion and ongoing growth of this mission of the Alabama Counsel on Pathological Gambling.
